Spider & Reticular Vein Treatment Lexington, Kentucky
Spider veins are small, thin blood vessel clusters easily visible within the skin. Often red, pink or purple, they appear most commonly on the legs, but may arise anywhere on the body, including the nose and face. Spider veins typically have the appearance of a series of lines, tree branches or a spider-web-like shape (hence the name). Reticular veins are larger than spider veins, and are usually the veins from which spider veins arise. Sometimes referred to as “feeder veins,” reticular veins are ineffectual veins, which have not yet dilated.
While most cases of spider veins are of purely cosmetic concern, some patients may also experience uncomfortable symptoms such as aching, burning, swelling, itching, and cramping from this condition. If you suffer from both varicose and spider veins, it is necessary to treat the varicosity first, as spider veins will most likely return if varicose veins remain. We offer highly effective and minimally invasive treatments to restore a smooth, clear appearance without significant discomfort or lengthy downtimes.
Sclerotherapy treats varicose veins by injecting a solution into the targeted veins that causes them to gradually disappear. This procedure is performed in our office and takes less than an hour. Depending on the extent of your disease, it may require several treatment sessions to achieve the desired result.
Laser therapy utilizing our center’s state-of-the-art laser technology can effectively treat spider veins as well as a variety of other unsightly vascular lesions such as fine facial veins and cherry spots.
If you are concerned about the appearance and/or discomfort associated with your spider veins, we can help!
